Sioux Falls fairgrounds hosts set of circus tigers

Posted: Updated:

So much for keeping things a secret.

Tuesday, we learned five tigers have set up camp at the fairgrounds in Sioux Falls.

The tigers are part of the George Carden Circus International. The traveling show had a two week break before it's next show in Winner and was looking for a place for the tigers to rest, rather than travel all the way home to Florida. So the tigers have been hanging out in a multi-purpose building on the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.

"They can't just be in the cage all the time, they need their exercise they are performers, they are performers, just like you see the performers in the morning lifting weights, just like they need their exercise," Israel Alvarado said. He's the circus floor manager.
