Steff Liston-Holtrop with Hood Magazine is showing the KSFY Morning News some great craft ideas for celebrating the 4th of July.
Our guests showed us how to make 4th of July red, white, and blue patriotic sharpie tie dye T-Shirts. Kara Weber took us through the steps to make the shirts. She says these shirts are made using a sharpie marker method of tie dye.
These are the items that were used for the shirts:
White T-shirts (we got ours at dollar tree)
Blue Sharpie Marker
Red Shaprie Marker
Medicine dropper, we used a baby medicine dropper. Red and Blue ribbon to tie at shoulders (optional)
Here are the steps. Kara says first put the cups inside the T-shirt and secure with a rubber band. Then she says color the circle in whatever way you want leaving plenty of white space. Then she says drop rubbing alcohol in the center of the circle and watch the color spread out to the edge of the cup.
Once the alcohol is dry, put the shirt in the dryer for 15 minutes to set the color. Kara says you can also add some red and blue ribbon to the shoulders to give your shirt a sleeveless look and an extra pop of color.
