SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) - A contractor says that the newly renovated and renamed Mountain View Elementary School in Spearfish is ready for occupants. The Black Hills Pioneer reports that crews have been working steadily on a $2 million renovation of the building, which was formerly a section of East Elementary. The site was selected in December to house the Spearfish School District's kindergarten program because of steady growth in incoming kindergarten students. SECO Construction superintendent Bob Chase says a final inspection performed Friday found that the building is ready. A second part of the renovation, which includes a playground, flooring and miscellaneous cabinetry, is on track to finish construction in the middle of August.
