4th of July celebrations happening all across South Dakota

With what looks to be a beautiful Fourth of July across South Dakota, many people will be heading outdoors to celebrate. 

No matter where you are in the state, there are plenty of ways to get out and celebrate America's birthday. Here's a list of just a few of the events going on all over the state. 


Bring the entire family to Wylie Park on the 4th of July for a fun-filled day. Take part in the many activities at the park. Storybook Land Theatre Performance is at the Castle beginning at 5:00 P.M. followed with other entertainment sponsored by Kesslers beginning at 7:00 P.M. Wylie Lake Activities begin with the Aqua Addicts Ski Show at 7:00 P.M. and the Duck Derby at 8:00 P.M. The Municipal Band Concert is at 8:30 P.M. with fireworks on display at dusk. 


Spectacular Celebration
Parade, Carriage Rides. Inflatable Rides, Mechanical Bull Rides, Face painting, Air brush tattoos, Kid's and adult Tractor Pull, Pony Rides, Snow Cones, Horse Shoe Contest, Mud Race, Tug of War, Bean Bag Toss Tourney, Balloon Animals, Fireworks, and more. 


Join us on Thursday, July 4, 2013 for the Annual Fourth of July parade and stadium celebration in Uptown Watertown. The candy and Frisbee toss will kick-off at 1:45 pm in uptown Watertown with the parade following at 2:00 pm.

The parade route will start at 4th Street and East Kemp Avenue and follow Kemp Avenue west to the Watertown Stadium. If you would like to enter a float, entry forms are available on the Chamber website or by calling the Chamber office at 886-5814.

The Watertown Stadium gates open at 6 pm with admission costs of $3.00. All proceeds will go to the Fraternal Order of Police. There will be a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy, concessions, and live musical entertainment featuring the band "Party of 5". The night's grand finale will be a spectacular fireworks display you don't want to miss.


Uncle Sam Jam--4th of July Celebration including kids crafts, inflatable kids games, sand box, balloon twisting, Great Plain ZooMobile, Live Music and Fireworks Display 


The Dakota Discover Museum Independence Day Celebration from 2pm-4pm. Guest will enjoy ice cream watermelon and lemonade while listening to country, oldies, big band and patriotic tunes provided by Uncle Roy and Friends, led by Roy Kin of Armour. 

Celebrate Independence Day at Lake Mitchell with a beautiful display of fireworks!


Huron Independence Day Celebration at State Fairgrounds; activities include a parade, barbeque, vendor fair and fireworks. 


Yankton Fourth of July Fireworks Display

Grand fireworks display that lights up the summer skies over the Missouri River, begins at dusk at Riverside Park. 

Corps of Discovery Center Brick Commemoration and Music Festival:
All Day Entertainment includes: Square Dancing @ 10:30 am, music all day featuring: Elaine Peacock-Elk Point, SD - vocalist, entertainer D. J. Langel-Jefferson, SD - singer, guitarist Christian Scholl-Sioux Falls,SD - singer, guitarist Alexa & Cody Griffith, Ashley & Tyler Schweitzer, & Rachel Wood, Yankton, SD - Band Ralph Johnson-York, NE - singer, entertainer The OutBack Band & more. Brick Dedication Ceremony at 2:00 pm. 


July 4th celebration, Farmers Market Fourth

Farmers Market Fourth: Celebrate the Fourth of July at the Farmers Market, 3:00-7:00 at the Clay County Fairgrounds (Cherry and High St). Food and beverages served. Games, obstacle course, watermelon-seed-spitting contest, and prizes for the kids and 4-legged friends (on leashes) all afternoon. Children's races start at 4:30 with sign-up at 4:00 for ages 2 and older.

Fireworks Display at dusk (appx. 10:00 pm) at the field south of Polaris and west of Carr St.  


The 4th of July Rodeo will be held at the Stanley County Fairgrounds on July 4th at 7pm with the fireworks display to follow at dusk.  


No fireworks display for fourth year in a row due to potential for sparking wildfire.

Activities and celebration all day long in the area including Patriot's Parade in downtown Custer city at 10am. Parade will be followed by a Flag-Raising Ceremony at the 5th Street flagpole.
