CRAZY HORSE MEMORIAL, S.D. (AP) - A blast will mark the Independence Day holiday at Crazy Horse Memorial.

The 11 a.m. blast will honor veterans and current military members as well as the memory of Crazy Horse sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski, a decorated World War II Army sergeant.

Prior to the blast, horseback riders from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation will hold a ceremony honoring living and deceased military veterans.

The Crazy Horse Memorial is a mountain carving in progress that will honor Oglala Lakota warrior Crazy Horse.
