Great Plains Zoo reinforces animal's wild side

Posted: Updated:

Visitors at the Great Plains Zoo spent time observing the unique work animal care staff does to bring out the wild side of the animals.

The goal was to encourage natural behaviors, guests got to see zookeepers feeding nut and frozen fruit popsicles to the bears and other treats for animals.

We caught up with a few children to find out their favorite part.

"It's fun where you get to pet them and feed them, see their little babies and ride them sometime," Kacie Phillips said.

"The best part about this is that you can see a bunch of animals that you don't see everyday. Like camels, you don't see them in your backyard or front yard so you can see these things you don't see everyday," Gabriel Gann said.

This follows the zoo's big debut of it's new snow monkey exhibit, newly renovated grand entrance among other new additions.

It is open everyday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
