Driver in Sioux Falls power pole crash arrested for DWI
A Sioux Falls man has been arrested for drinking and driving after he crashed into a power pole, knocking out power in the area of 57th Street and Western Avenue.
Power was restored to most of the area by 5:30 a.m. Xcel energy says 1588 customers were affected by the outage.
Police responded to the accident call at 2:05 a.m. Thursday. A 2002 Ford Escape was traveling south on Western Avenue and left the roadway and eventually striking a wooden utility pole, according Sioux Falls Police Spokesman Sam Clemens.
Police performed a sobriety test and arrested Daniel Brison, 45, for his first DWI charge and driving with no insurance. An estimated $6,000 damage was done to Brison's car. The power pole had an estimated $10,000 damage, according to an email from Sioux Falls Police Spokesman Sam Clemens.
