Weiland: Proud to be out-raised by Rounds in Senate campaign

Posted: Updated:

Thursday, democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Rick Weiland announced he has raised less money than his opponent, former South Dakota governor, Mike Rounds. And he's proud of it.

In his statements to the media, Thursday, the Sioux Falls small businessman and Madison native said he's proud to have been out-raised by his republican opponent Mike Rounds.

Since his announcement in May, Weiland has raised $105,000 in the first seven weeks of his campaign.

His ''Take it Back'' campaign on his charge that big money special interests have taken over Congress.

"I think South Dakotans want to talk to people that represent them and not have to watch a bunch of political ads that have been paid for by big money, special interests and out of state donors," Senate candidate Rick Weiland said.

Over the next three months, he plans to travel to more than 100 communities. He says he looks forward to visiting with South Dakotans on big money issues.
