Police have identified the man found dead outside a vehicle found in an embankment in Yankton.

At 6:16 a.m. Tuesday, emergency crews responded to a car in Marne Creek, just east of 4th Street and Burleigh Avenue. Police found Joshua Scott, 30, dead outside the vehicle.

Police say the car had extensive damage to it after going airborne over the creek and striking the embankment on the east side. Police say estimated speed when the vehicle went airborne is 65 mph in a 30 mph zone.

An autopsy has been ordered. The Yankton Police Department and South Dakota Highway Patrol are still investigating.
