NorthWestern plans outage Thursday for Lake Andes

Posted: Updated:

NorthWestern Energy has scheduled power outages for Lake Andes to repair equipment on a transmission line.

NorthWestern Energy has scheduled the outage in Lake Andes starting at 5 a.m. Thursday, July 25. It's expected to last about two hours.

Crews are repairing automated switching equipment on the transmission line that feeds Lake Andes an some of the surrounding rural customers. In order to work safely the lines need to be de-energized.

"These upgrades will provide better reliability and upgraded real-time monitoring of the status of that line," Yankton Area Engineer James Harens said in a news release.

If weather prevents the upgrades to be performed during the scheduled time, another outage will be scheduled and communicated to the general public.
