More than 300 from Ellsworth Air Force Base return from deployment

Posted: Updated:

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - More than 300 service members from Ellsworth Air Force Base have returned to the western South Dakota base after a six-month deployment in southwest Asia.

KOTA-TV reports the members of the 34th Bomb Squad stepped off a plane at 4:45 a.m. Friday to be met by a cheering crowd of family members, friends and other airmen.

Lt. Col. Seth Graham, squadron commander, says aircrews, aircraft maintenance and weapons troops were deployed.

Graham says the aircrews flew over Afghanistan. He says the airmen worked hard while on deployment, but it's tough to be gone for six months.
