Law enforcement in the Sioux Falls area are stepping up visibility as part of a nationwide campaign: "Drive Sober or get Pulled Over."
The high-visibility campaign started on August 16 and continues through September 2, encompassing Labor Day Weekend. Sioux Falls Police, Minnehaha County Sheriff's Deputies and South Dakota Highway Patrol are participating.
The emphasis is on drunk or impaired driving.
All three enforcement are working jointly on saturation and sobriety checkpoints. Extended shifts and overtime hours will be worked.
The Sioux Falls Police Department is spearheading a daytime saturation patrol on August 24 starting at 7:30 a.m. and continuing through the early evening.
