The annual LifeLight music festival is underway tonight in Worthing.
300,000 are expected to attend through Sunday.
It is a big event that brings a lot of attention to this little town.
It's a true South Dakota success story.
The LifeLight music festival...which 15 years ago had an audience of 2,000 people, now expects to draw well more than 300,000.
And it's put Worthing, South Dakota on the map....which is a good thing...
"A lot of people from Sioux Falls haven't even heard of Worthing, South Dakota." Kim Heisinger is co-owner of Otis' Bar in Worthing.
On a normal weekend, a couple of people might stop in town to grab something to eat.
Well, this isn't going to be a normal weekend. "When you have over 300,000 people going through your town in a matter of three days, it brings a lot of awareness and revenue."
And that revenue is very welcome.
Otis' doesn't just serve food here. They also cater....and one of their biggest accounts is when they cater dinners for all the volunteers who get LifeLight up and running every year. "This year we have already catered twice for a group of 300."
So while a lot of the activity in Worthing this weekend will be in this field and on these stages....the folks at Otis' are ready for anyone who might want to stop by and say hi.
Kim Heisinger says the only really problem was when LifeLight first moved to Worthing in 2010 and she says the traffic was a little overwhelming.
