'Fall' in love with Autumn weddings

Posted: Updated:

Summer is winding down and that means brides are pulling together the last minute details for their Autumn weddings. Valerie Sampson is the managing editor for a local bridal magazine Dainty Obsessions. Sampson says that this issue focuses a lot on trends when it comes to wedding cakes. Kari Popham is the owner of Sugar's Baked Goods & Sweet Treats. She says that a lot of brides are going for the pastel colors when it comes to picking their cakes. She says that many are also going for unique but simpler designs. She showed Nancy a few examples on the KSFY Morning News. She brought a smaller cake that has a watercolor effect using different shades of light pinks. Popham also brought a cake decorated with a small ribbon of rolled fondant pearls that can be made to match a bride's dress. The Fall issue of Dainty Obsessions also features a guide to ring shopping. Whether you are a girl figuring out what you want or a guy trying to decide what to buy, it's good to know the basics. The issue points out the 4 'C's every potential diamond buyer should know. They are clarity, color, carat, and cut. You can also find pictures from real weddings around the state and a little advice on wedding etiquette.
