Sioux Falls Police search for burglar who stole car, set it on fire

Posted: Updated:

The Sioux Falls Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a man who broke into a convenience store, stole a vehicle and set it on fire in a cornfield.

On Monday September, 2, police responded to a commercial burglary at 1025 S. Cleveland Avenue. Police say surveillance video shows a white man breaking out the front door glass, entering the business and taking several cartons of cigarettes.

Surveillance video also shows the man leaving in a Honda CRV, which was reported stolen from the 2200-block of S. Pendar Lane later Monday morning.

On Tuesday, a rural Lincoln County farmer noticed tire tracks in his cornfield. He followed the tracks to the stolen Honda—which was set on fire and was destroyed.

If you have any information about the incident you are encouraged to contact police or crime stoppers at 605-367-7007.
