"Great Ones" grand prize winner and pet parent, Brent Morgan, sings his way to a $50,000 prize and $50,000 donation to The City Of Huntsville Animal Control Center
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Petco announced the grand prize winner of their first ever "Great Ones" contest. Since announcing the contest in January 2013, pet parents from around the country have been submitting short videos or essays explaining why they're a "Great One" in hopes of winning $50,000 plus a $50,000 donation to the rescue organization of their choice. Out of thousands of clever, comical, heartfelt and emotional entries, sixty finalists were chosen and today, the winners are finally being revealed. Grand prize winner, Brent Morgan from Madison, Alabama, sang his way into America's heart with the original song he wrote and dedicated to his rescue dogs, Fred and Charlie. Morgan has designated The City Of Huntsville Animal Control Center as his shelter of choice to receive the $50,000 donation to put towards their mission of helping homeless pets in Alabama.
As Brent Morgan sings in his original song, Two Best Friends, "he loves his pets for everything that they do." Petco held the "Great Ones" contest to recognize the love that so many people feel for their pets and to give back to the shelters and organizations that dedicate their life to saving animals. In addition to the $50,000 grand prize, Petco is also giving $25,000 to the first prize winner with a matching donation to their shelter of choice, and $5,000 to the three second prize winners with matching prizes going to their favorite rescues.
Brent sings in his winning entry that "it's hard to say who rescued who" about his shelter dogs. Well, now Brent can know that with his winning donation to The City Of Huntsville Animal Control Center, he is helping shelter pets across Alabama to hopefully find their forever home, just like Fred and Charlie did.
