Police searching for teen, child missing from Sioux Falls treatment center

Posted: Updated:

Department of Corrections staff members and law enforcement are searching for a juvenile that left a private placement in Sioux Falls without authorization last night with her young son, Michael Winder, DOC communications manager, said.

Kimberly Guerra, 17, left a residential treatment program that serves pregnant women and mothers with small children at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday. She climbed out of a second story window with her 3-year old son, Jo'Angel.

Guerra is a Hispanic female. She is 5-feet-2 inches tall and weighs approximately 135 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Law enforcement and the Department of Social Services were notified.

The Department of Corrections has released the name of the juvenile based on the department's responsibility as guardian and the department's belief that releasing the juvenile's name is necessary to protect her and her child from harm.
