Sioux Falls challenges the public to take the Green Pledge

Posted: Updated:

The City of Sioux Falls is challenging us to take the Green Pledge.

It's an initiative aimed at getting the public thinking about the decisions we make, and if we can be living more sustainable lives.

Thursday, the program was announced at an open house at Sioux Falls' LEED-certified environmental center. LEED certification means the building is designed to operate with optimal energy and water efficiency.

"Imagine what it would do if every building, every industrial building...every residence would meet that LEED certification. That would reduce energy consumption in the U.S. by over 20%," said City of Sioux Falls Environmental Manager Bob Kappel.
