Storm hits Union County Friday night

Throughout Friday night, KSFY News has been hearing reports of damage throughout the southeast portion of the viewing area.

In Union County, Interstate 29 has was closed on and off throughout the night, because of accidents and debris. Jade Rosenbaum from Elk Point was at a friend's house in Jefferson when the storm hit.

"We were about 30 seconds into playing the game "Life" when our ears started popping and the wind hit the windows really hard. So we went into a concrete room because we were really scared. And then we heard all the windows in the house shatter."

KSFY News also obtained cell phone video of several semis tipped over near the Jefferson exit on I-29.  Traffic was at standstill around 7:00pm, but eventually drivers were able to slowly navigate through.

Calls to the Union County Sheriff have gone unreturned Friday night, as the office has been inundated with damage calls from area residents.
