Burbank family makes history in Federal Duck Stamp competition

Posted: Updated:

The Grimm family has a talent with ducks. Particularly duck stamps.

Adam Grimm, of Burbank, won the 2014 Federal Duck Stamp competition, just months after his daughter Madison won the competition in the junior division. At 6, Madison is the youngest winner on record for Junior Duck Stamp.

Adam's winning painting features a pair of sunlight Canvasbacks -- the same bird his daughter painted for her win. He was selected from a field of 202 entries for his second win. His first win, in 1999, was also a headline, as he was the youngest artist to win the award at that time in the adult category.

"I'm honored to have been selected," Grimm said. "This year has been filled with unfathomable ups and downs. At this incredible moment of my career, I'm surrounded by some of the most important people in my life."
