(Sioux Falls)- Things have progressed in the year and a half since a shovel went into the ground. Here's a look at the main arena of the $115 million dollar Denny Sanford Premier Center. While it's not there yet, the fan experience will really be enhanced by the video boards.
"You are going to have a big center hung scoreboard, along with a ribbon board that goes 360-degrees around the facility. About 900 feet which will really enhance the fan experience." says Jason Miranowski from Mortenson Construction.
At 303,000 square feet, the Denny Sanford Premier Center is twice as big as the current Sioux Falls Arena, and obviously will seat twice as many.
"It will seat 12-thousand in a basketball configuration, and about 13 to 13 thousand five hundred for a center stage concert." says Miranowski.
Here's the view from one of the three bars that will be in the facility. Two will be public, and one private.
There will also be a total of 38 suites of all sizes, along with more than twice as many concession stands, and twice as many restrooms as the current Arena.
"We went out to some community groups and got feedback. You'll see the restrooms are much nicer than the current Arena." says Miranowski.
On the outside concourse, you'll be able to look through windows at Howard Wood Field...
"If you are on the northside of the building and want to watch high school football on a Friday night, you can see Howard Wood Field very clearly." says Miranowski.
And construction of the project has gone well.
"Right now we are ahead of schedule and under budget, so things have gone very well." says Miranowski.
