Charity golf tournament brings in $26,500 for Sioux Falls non-profit

Posted: Updated:

Local golfers raised more than $26,000 to support a non-profit that provides advocates for children displaced by abuse or neglect.

The Pro-Am Golf Tournament in July raised $26,500 for the Sioux Falls Area Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. CASA matches volunteers to children involved in abuse or neglect cases in the Minnehaha and Lincoln county court systems. Volunteers help the children find safe and permanent homes.

"Proceeds raised from the tournament enables CASA to continue to recruit, screen, train and retain volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children," Executive Director Amy Benda said.

This year's donation was $5,500 more than last year's.
