Sioux Falls man arrested for kidnapping woman from gas station

Posted: Updated:

A man was accused of kidnapping a woman from a central Sioux Falls gas station.

The female victim was waiting for a ride at Get n' Go on 14th Street and Minnesota Avenue when she accepted a ride from a man that she didn't know, but had seen a few times.

David Centra, 61, of Sioux Falls, took the victim to a store, where he stopped to get a bottle of alcohol. He started drinking the alcohol and the victim wanted to leave the vehicle, but Centra refused to stop the car.

Police say that when the victim threatened to leave again, Centra stopped the car and went to the passenger side of the car. The woman escaped, threw Centra's keys and called for help.

Centra left, but was later located by officers. He was arrested for DWI, simple assault and kidnapping second degree.
