NSU Women's Basketball Leads Nation in Attendance Again

Posted: Updated:

For the sixth consecutive season, Northern State led NCAA Division II in women's basketball attendance averaging 2,345 fans throughout the 2012-13 season.

In all, 32,834 fans attended Wolves basketball in Wachs Arena last season. As a conference, the Northern Sun finished second behind the MIAA in total attendance with 177,281 fans (900 average).

Northern also finished in the top-60 amongst all 1,066 NCAA member institutions, including 340 in Division I and 290 in Division II in average attendance last season.

"To lead the nation in attendance for a sixth-straight year and finish in the top-60 of all NCAA institutions says a lot about the tremendous community support we have in Aberdeen and in this region," said Northern State Athletic Director Josh Moon.

"We have such a rich tradition in women's basketball and our staff and student-athletes work very hard each and every day to continue to build upon this strong foundation. We look forward to another successful basketball season in 2013-14," said Moon.

The NSU women open the 2013-14 season against South Dakota School of Mines Nov. 15 in Rapid City. The Wolves' home opener will be Nov. 23 against Central Methodist (Mo.).
