Across the country, kidsare scratching their heads with a new breed of super lice.
The pests have developeda harder exo-skeleton and lays eggs at different times, so they are not easilykilled by over-the-counter lice shampoo.
But that doesn't mean thenew lice are invincible.
Dr. Joseph Vogel, anAvera Pediatrician, says if over-the-counter medications don't work, there arebigger guns out there.
"There's prescriptionmedication we use for resistance or for persistent infections, and at thatpoint we would go over how the medicine is being used and see if it's beingappropriately used," Vogel said.
Vogel says the best wayto stop lice is by avoiding getting them in the first place. Do not shareclothing or hats with others, especially during a lice outbreak.
