Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week: Abby Heiberger
This week's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Abby Heiberger from Tri-Valley High School in Colton. Abby has a fantastic 3.94 grade point average. She also has a pretty big heart.
Abby Heiberger's day is spent in Calculus, Spanish 4, Human Anatomy and Personal Finance - just to name a few classes. But there are two classes in particular that she says she needs to achieve her dream.
"My Human Anatomy class because I want to pursue a nurse practitioner degree and hopefully pediatric and then my Spanish class because I want to get a Spanish minor to help me out in the medical field," Heiberger said. That dream of working in the medical field is prompted by an interest in medicine. But to go with that, Abby also really likes kids and wants to help if she can.
"Especially working with the pediatrics, the little kids, which I absolutely adore. I adore children. And I would just love to be able to help them."
Abby is one of those people who goes above and beyond, who is considerate of others and who doesn't just do the bare minimum to get by. Andrea Soto is Abby's Spanish teacher.
"She is a very good student. She is a high achiever and always gets everything done on time and asks questions when she needs to ask questions," Soto said. "Always goes the extra mile. Never just stops at the assignment."
As for where Abby will take the first steps of her post_high school career, she isn't sure yet, but she is working on it.
"I'm doing some more campus visits, some here in Sioux Falls and then some up in Aberdeen."
And wherever she goes, there is no doubt she will do well.
For being named our Scholar of the Week, Abby will receive a $100 scholarship from Sioux Valley Energy, which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
