One injured in Aberdeen house fire

Posted: Updated:
One man was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after a fire broke out in an Aberdeen home.

It happened near the corner of 7th Ave. SE and S. Penn St. around 7:30 p.m. Aberdeen Fire Rescue Lt. Mike Roemmich said first arriving crews saw smoke and flames in the home's windows.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to knock down the flames. Crews were on scene for an hour and a half.

Roemmich says the family's teenage son was home at the time of the fire. He alerted his father to the fire. The father ran into the house and is now being treated for smoke inhalation.

It is unclear why the man entered the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
