South Dakota's Attorney General continues to investigate the state's Economic Development Office and the finances of bankrupt Northern Beef Packers.
U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rounds was governor at the time of this "alleged" misconduct, but Attorney General Marty Jackley says Rounds "was not and is not a target of the state's investigation."
KSFY reached out to Rounds Friday. His campaign manager provided the following statement:
We believe the investigation will have no impact whatsoever on the U.S. Senate race. We believe that once the Attorney General's report and the Governor's review are made public, that speculation will end as the facts are established. Meanwhile, we need to let the Attorney General and the Governor do their jobs.
