FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The South Dakota State women's cross country team comprised of two juniors, six sophomores and one freshman ran to a second place finish at the 2013 Summit League Cross Country Championships.
The Jackrabbits' second place finish at the conference meet is their highest finish since 2008 when they took home the league title.
Cheyanne Bowers was the top finisher for the Jackrabbits with her second place finish. Bowers' second place finish at the meet today is the highest finish for a Jackrabbit runner at The Summit League conference meet all-time. She ran a final time of 21:34.38.
Jessica Eibs was the second SDSU runner to finish in the top-10. She took sixth overall with her time of 21:55.41.
Courtney Neubert, Laura Lawton and Jenna Grossenburg finished 12th, 13th and 14th in the 6k. The three girls finished with times of 22:23.41, 22:26.28 and 22:30.93, respectively.
In 19th place was Alex Suhr with her final time of 22:45.78. Eleven seconds after Suhr finished, Samantha Anderson completed the 6k race. S. Anderson ran a final time of 22:56.02.
Marisa Shady finished the course in 23:01.72 and Kirsten Anderson posted an overall time of 23:10.31.
Bowers and Eibs both made the First Team All-League, while Neubert, Lawton and Grossenburg are Second Team All-League runners.

The Jackrabbits do not compete next weekend as they prepare for the NCAA Midwest Regional meet on Nov. 15. The Midwest Regionals take place in Ames, Iowa as they are hosted by Iowa State.
