Tonight's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Cole Capser, a senior at Lake Preston High School.
Cole has a 3.85 grade point average and is not only a good student but serves as a role model to others as well.
Every day, Cole Casper has two study halls and that is a good thing because he is tackling subjects this year ranging from government and chemistry to advanced math. "Advanced Math will probably help out the most just cause that's a difficult class and there's things I will need to know for college."
College isn't that far away but Cole is weighing his options on both a school and a major, but what he does know is that he wants to stay here at home to continue his education. "I think I would like to stay in South Dakota so all the scholarships and things I've done in high school carry over to college."
And while Cole is a quiet, reserved kind of guy...two of his teachers are quick to sing his praises. Dana Felderman is a computer teacher. "Part of being a Scholar of the Week, he's doing everything right. He's showing up to class, you never see him missing days at all, helping younger kids if they need help as well as his classmates."
And Ryan Royer is Cole's social studies teacher. "I could see him teaching....really whatever Cole wants to do I know he'll be successful at it and have a good career because of it."
So what does Cole want to do for his career? He knows his options are open....and that's a good thing. "Maybe something in engineering or in business."
For being named our Scholar of the Week, Cole will receive a $100 scholarship from Kingsbury Electric Cooperative, which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
