SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana women's basketball announced the signing of five players on Friday. The five signees are set to join the team next fall. Shelby Selland out of Letcher, S.D., Allie Walter from Baltic, S.D., Paige Peterson of Jamestown, N.D., Lynsey Prosser of Sturgis, S.D., and Chelsey Guetter from Wabasso, Minn. Each individual has signed their letter of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Augustana.
Shelby Selland is a 6-1 post player from Sanborn Central High School. The senior was all-state second team as a junior, as well as a State B All-Tournament team selection. Selland averaged 17 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.9 steals during her junior season. She has also scored 1,120 points and grabbed 614 rebounds.
Allie Walter comes to Augustana from Baltic High School in Baltic, S.D. Walter is a 6-0 post player, who was named to the Big East and Tri-Valley All-Conference teams as both a sophomore and junior. The Baltic, S.D. native has averages of 13.8 points and 11.8 rebounds as a junior. Walter also finished eighth in the shot put at the state track meet.
Paige Peterson is a 6-0 forward out of Jamestown High School in Jamestown, N.D. Peterson was named to all-tournament team in the North Dakota state tournament her junior year. The Jamestown, N.D. native averaged 11.1 points and 10.5 rebounds as a junior. Peterson was also named second team all-state in the 50m freestyle swim her junior year.
Chelsey Guetter is a forward out of Wabasso High School in Wabasso, Minn. Guetter was named first team All-Journal and All-Independent her junior year. The 6-0 forward averaged 15.6 points and 11.2 rebounds last year. She was also named team captain and most valuable player of her team. Guetter also received recognition for her volleyball skills, earning conference player of the year her junior season.
Lynsey Prosser is a 5-8 guard out of Sturgis High School. Prosser was an All-Greater Dakota conference selection her junior year. She also averaged 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.6 steals last year for Sturgis. She currently has scored 861 points in her high school career. The Sturgis, S.D. native is also a three-time all-state soccer player.
Head coach Dave Krauth said in a statement, "We are very excited to announce these five outstanding signees with Augustana women's basketball. Each of them are enjoying great high school careers heading into their senior seasons. All of these young women are high achievers in the classroom and will be tremendous additions for the college. We look forward to the many talents and enthusiasm they will bring to our basketball program and the Augustana community."
