VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) - Canton avenged its only loss of the season when it mattered most, beating Parkston 20-14 Friday in the state 11B championship game.

Canton turned two kicking mistakes into second-half touchdowns to come back from a 7-0 deficit. The C-Hawks (11-1) went 80 yards in 15 plays after Parkston missed a 41-yard field goal. Austin Schruers scored on a 2-yard run to break a 7-7 tie.

After a 15-yard punt on Parkston's next possession, Canton went 51 yard and scored on Tanner Broughton's 1-yard run on fourth-and-goal.

Kyler Kniffen scored Canton's other TD on a 15-yard run.

Brady Reiff had a 32-yard TD pass for Parkston and Austin Bertram scored on a 3-yard run with 1:35 left.

Gabe Dolen had 97 yards rushing for Canton and Wes Dvorak had 66 yards for the Trojans (10-2).

Parkston lost two fumbles and had a pass intercepted.

It's Canton's first state title since winning 11A in 2006.
