Seven Mitchell residents arrested for sex crimes against kids in November

Posted: Updated:

Since November 1, seven Mitchell residents have been arrested for sex crimes against children - four under the age of 10.

The latest crime against a child was Thursday night.

Around 5:30 Mitchell Police received a call that a four-year-old was being sexually assaulted.

Police started the investigation right away.

"We located the suspect and he confessed to committing several acts of sexual penetration with this four-year-old child over a course of time. And then the child was interviewed today but we arrested him last night for one count of rape to get him held while the investigation continued," said Lt. Don Everson, Mitchell Police.

The alleged sexual predator is 22-year-old Casey Girard of Mitchell. We wanted to find out who is Casey Girard so we went to his neighborhood.

"Do you know Casey Girard," asked KSFY News Reporter Tess Hedrick.

"Yeah we don't know anyone like that. I'd be in prison if I knew someone like that," said one neighbor.

"I don't like it. This is like, there's a playground and everything. I don't like it," said another neighbor.

Nobody knew Girard so we went one step further. We went to Casey Girard's house.

"Could I ask you a couple of questions," asked KSFY's Tess Hedrick.

"No," said the man inside the home.

"Are you his dad," asked Hedrick.

"What do you want to know," asked the man.

"We'd like to know more about the alleged inappropriate relations he had," said Hedrick.

"I have nothing to say. I don't want to say anything. You just leave," said the man inside.

We were unable to confirm who the man reporter Tess Hedrick was speaking to inside the residence.

Casey Girard is currently being held in the Davison County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.

Lt. Everson says if you know of any sex crimes against children going on to not confront the suspect. Instead call the police immediately.

He says if someone simply doesn't want to get involved and fails to tell law enforcement, they're enabling this person to commit other sex crimes.
