BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) - Brookings officials say a decision by the South Dakota Department of Transportation to sell its former headquarters property is important to securing a major retailer to the city.
The Brookings Register reports that the city agreed to buy the DOT building for $1.6 million.
The 26-acre tract of land is part of another deal to attract a major home furnishings and apparel retailer.
