Sioux Falls Businesses Hiring
Sioux Falls' unemployment rate recently dropped below three percent, which puts the city back where it was before the recession hit and facing a familiar problem: trying to find enough workers.
Think of the retail and hospitality jobs alone that have been added this year: large stores such as Costco and Dick's Sporting Goods, the new grocery store Fareway, and tons of new restaurants and hotels. And don't forget the large call centers that are constantly hiring.
But here's the catch: they're all essentially looking for the same type of person. These are customer service-driven jobs that often are hourly and require good people skills. So how can businesses compete for workers?
Future plans for 69th and Louise
The intersection is going to take shape as a sort of combination retail and medical corner in a booming area of southwest Sioux Falls. You can see a new Sanford clinic taking shape attached to Lewis Drug, that's going to open in early January and be a hybrid clinic with family medicine and pediatrics. It will have room for 15 physicians. On the southeast corner Avera Health owns about 80 acres. Plans are starting to come together for a corporate campus there that will include clinics and office space, but it's probably about a 10-year build out.
