Firefighters continue their search for a child after a house fire in rural Minnesota.
Two children were unaccounted for after fire overtook the two-story single family farmhouse near Lucan, Minn. Crews arrived at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday to find the house fully engulfed.
The remains of one child were recovered Wednesday evening, Jen Longaecker of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety said.
Two adults and several other children were able to escape the residence without injury.
Longaecker said three state fire marshals are investigating the blaze. A cause has not yet been determined.
In the process of extinguishing the fire, a Vesta Fire Department firefighter was injured. Neil Hansen slipped and was run over by a tanker truck. He is currently hospitalized in Mankato, Minn. Hanson has been with the Vesta Fire Department for one year, Longaecker said.
Firefighters from Wabasso, Seaforth, Wanda, Vesta, Belview, Walnut Grove and Milroy, as well as Minnesota State Patrol officers assisted.
