Broken pipe causes lift station failure in Brandon

Some homeowners in Brandon have been asked to limit their water usage. That's because a sewage lift station is offline near Pioneer Park.
Brandon Public Works says homes East of Splitrock Boulevard and between Redwood Boulevard and Rushmore Drive need to curb their water use until further notice.
It's a rather smelly situation as public works crews in Brandon work around the clock to keep these sewage wells clear and that sewage out of people's homes.

"We had a pipe break at a lift station and that flooded into the dry well, it burnt out the electronics and electric motor, so we are in the process of replacing one of those motors to get at least one of the pumps running and get us back online." Said Rollie Hoeke, the Brandon Public Works Director.

With the Lift Station near Pioneer Park out of commission Public Works is using two pump trucks to physically move sewage to the treatment center. That means for the nearly 100 homes and business nearby, their water use is now restricted.

"We'd like to see them restrict their use a little bit, the water they use does end up here in this area and comes to this lift station and that makes more for us to get rid of." Said Hoeke.

Public Works says their two trucks are able to keep up with the demand and they will continue to work throughout the night with the hope that the station will be online by Wednesday.
