Major meth bust in Central Sioux Falls

Posted: Updated:

22-year-old Corey Thomas and his 46-year-old father Howard Thomas were arrested at their house last Monday.

Four other people were arrested who were in a car in the driveway.

Officer Sam Clemens said, "The house was the primary focus on this. The search warrant was written to include anyone who showed up and I suppose these four just had the bad luck of being at the wrong place at the wrong time."

Officer Clemens said drugs, paraphernalia and a handgun were found in the car.

He said $460, marijuana, paraphernalia and 26 grams of meth were found in the house.

"Yeah. That's a lot of meth. And there were a lot of baggies found as well, along with a scale. There were eight different bags of marijuana that was about 10 grams total." Officer Clemens said.

One neighbor took pictures as the suspects were being arrested.

Others, who didn't want to go on camera, say it is sad this happened on their street and they hope jail doesn't become a rotating door for the suspects.

All six people arrested face numerous drug charges.

Including possession of controlled drugs and drugs in a drug free zone.

"I think it's a pretty substantial drug bust. Getting 25, 26 grams of meth off the street is a pretty significant amount. Most of the time the meth that we see is smaller quantities or even residue so to have that type of quantity of meth that was seized is a pretty substantial amount."Officer Clemens explained.

Officer Clemens says there wasn't any type of lab or indication that the meth was cooked in the house.
