Awards recognize innovation, cutting edge design in senior living new construction and renovation
CHICAGO, Dec. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Senior Housing News, an Aging Media Network publication, is proud to present the winners of its inaugural SHN Design Awards, the only independent and non-trade organization-based competition for 2013.
The first-ever competition garnered entries from more than 70 communities across the nation, with judges put to the difficult task of choosing a winner in each of seven categories: New Independent Living, New Assisted Living / Memory Care, New Skilled Nursing / Post-Acute Care, New Construction Continuing Care Retirement Community, Best Renovation / Repositioning, and New Affordable Senior Housing.
The panel of judges comprising senior living experts and architects has chosen winners after weeks of deliberation based on criteria considering the most cutting-edge design and construction features. The winners are:

After collecting entries between late October and early December, the judges panel reviewed each project independently with an eye toward innovation and design features within each category.
