Some brides take years to plan their wedding day, but one Sioux Falls woman needed just one day.
"It might not have been perfect. It might not have been what anyone had planned for, but it was beautiful" Christy Menning, the bride's sister, said.
Ken and Nicole Decker had planned a January wedding in Mexico, but then they learned the mother of the bride's cancer had spread.
"We thought we had time," Menning said. "We thought we had about two years and this week she became very sick."
So, the loving family, including maid-of-honor, Christy, changed their plans, choosing to have the wedding right here, in the hospital.
"We just decided that we should have a wedding and we're really excited we could give that gift to my mom, and my sister," she said.
The wedding party, family, and friends came together to celebrate this special day, with hospital staff helping in every way they could.
"We had everything we needed. And it didn't matter. As long as we could just have a wedding," Menning told us.
Despite being in a hospital, this wedding was about joy and the love they have for one another. And they'll always have the memory of today.
"I think that my sister is very happy that my mom got to be at her wedding, and I think that my mom will forever smile to know that her last minutes and days were so precious," Menning added.
