The South Dakota Department of Corrections is searching for a state prison inmate who did not return to a work release center in Sioux Falls Friday.
Courtney Mitchell, 25, failed to return to the Minnehaha County Correction Center in Sioux Falls Friday afternoon following a shift at her work release job. The state contracts with MCC to house female inmates on work release status in Sioux Falls.
Mitchell is a white female, 5'11" and weighs approximately 245 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.
Mitchell is currently serving a four-year sentence for grand theft out of Lincoln County and a one-year sentence for possession of a controlled substance out of Minnehaha County.
Anyone who sees Mitchell or knows of her whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.
There are more than 200 state prison inmates currently on work release status, including 15 females housed at MCC.
