Sioux Falls Business Journal: Tech company booming
In this week's Business Journal cover story, they'll cover the push at both state and local levels to help area entrepreneurs grow more tech companies and start-ups.
You might be familiar with DocuTap -- that's a growing company that works with electronic medical records. It's grown out of the founder's basement to 150 people -- with plans to double in size and move into a new downtown office later this year.
The idea here is: how can we grow more of these companies? In tomorrow's cover story, the Business Journal will look at some plans to broaden the venture capital available in the state to help startups finance their ventures. And we'll look at a grassroots group that is trying to help the culture locally be more friendly to entrepreneurs, with events, networking and professional development opportunities.
Also in this week's edition, we'll talk about the growing Sanford Health venture: Sanford Profile.
Profile is a weight management and nutrition business that started in Sioux Falls a little over a year ago with 50 members.
It's now grown to 3,000 members and there are nine locations in various stages of development. They've also got new food products coming out -- they've launched a low-carb, high-protein pizza that was developed in Sioux Falls by Orion Foods and there's an ice cream coming out soon.
Plus, Profile is about to grow even more: there are plans to start franchising the concept, which would bring it into markets the Sanford name hasn't been seen before. Places like Des Moines, Lincoln and Omaha. We'll tell you how that will work and how Sanford plans to set Profile apart from all the other weight loss businesses in the marketplace in tomorrow's edition.
You can pick up the Business Journal tomorrow on newsstands -- or you can find it online, anytime at http://www.siouxfallsbusinessjournal.com.
