High winds and blowing snow created low visibility in the Sioux Falls area Thursday, causing 93 car accidents between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
No travel was advised in the early afternoon, but cars were still on the streets.
The peak hours of accidents were between 10 p.m. and 4 p.m., and at this time the rate of accidents was 10 per hour.
Not only were the white out conditions difficult for drivers, but snow drifts and ice also covered the roads. The weather conditions got so bad that for a short period of time North Minnesota Ave. was closed from Algonquin to Benson Rd.
