Cutting ribbons, and cutting prices, that's what's going on at the new affordable housing development in Aberdeen.
Acadia Creek is a new townhouse complex that offers inexpensive housing for families. There are seven buildings on site with 48 units total. Two and three bedrooms are offered to people on a price based on income.
Costello Property Regional Manager, Kristi Slack Miller says the complex has several amenities you won't find at other apartments, including two outdoor playgrounds for your kids. She also mentioned the townhouses were built to be energy efficient.
St Joseph Catholic Housing owns the townhomes, and their mission is just to provide affordable, quality housing. Paul J. Swain, the Bishop of Sioux Falls, was even here to celebrate the opening of the complex
"People need a home so they can deal with the other challenges of life, this is a way of saying we want you here, and we want you to be happy here," he said.
There will be another open house this Saturday from 10-4 p.m. Acadia Creek is located at 1737 20th Avenue SE, just west of the new Central High School off Melgaard Road.
