The Johnson Fine Arts Center on Northern State University's campus is soon getting a facelift. NSU has raised $11 million to renovate the building that houses the Theater, Music and Arts departments. They plan to spend $12 million on the renovation.
The building is over 40 years old, and some areas have not seen improvements since the day it was built.
"We're operating on a stage that's forty years old. The operating pit works when it wants to work, and doesn't work when it doesn't want to work, so all of that will be brand new," said NSU President James Smith.
The main theatre will be updated, there will be an art gallery, an expanded lobby with foyer space, new teaching studios, and much more. To learn more or contribute, contact Dr. Alan LaFave, School of Fine Arts dean, at 605-626-2497 or email@example.com.
