Making Way for Insurance Premium Discounts with Driver Accountability

HARTFORD, Conn., Feb. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The latest version text-STAR, the Android-based app for increased road safety, has just been released on Google Play by Cinqpoint, LLC.  It now goes deeper into driver accountability than ever before.  As part of the Patent Pending text-STAR Road Safety System, the app partners with a Safe Texting Accountability Report containing an individual driver's text-STAR Score.  The text-STAR Report is available to all registered text-STAR users.  Ideal for parents and employers, these tools enable peace of mind and provide helpful insights while promoting individual behavior improvement.

Text-STAR is non-invasive and remarkably user friendly as it does not require hardware in your car, nor does it block or hinder phone functionality. Instead, it motivates driver behavioral changes through its available app tools and its personal accountability report, which produces a text-STAR Score specific to the individual driver.   The text-STAR Report reflects the driver's propensity for Mobile Technology Use (MTU) while in motion to calculate an individual score reflecting the driver's phone usage and its associated level of risk.  Similar to a credit score in its user specific historical nature, the text-STAR Report takes into account the historical aspects of driver phone interaction while in motion, to promote behavior improvement.

The level of depth and sophistication embedded within text-STAR Road Safety System is absolutely vital in winning the fight against phone-related distracted driving, reaching newer areas of phone distractibility. Concerns over distracted driving, beyond calls and texting, has grown with the rise of other phone feature use by drivers. Last year in Arizona, a 33 year old truck driver with an empty fuel tanker rammed into first responders at 65mph, killing a 47 year old police officer.  Officials later released video footage that showed the driver was viewing images on Facebook at the time of the accident.  The text-STAR Score reflects other phone use as an "Other App Use" (OAU) category within the text-STAR report details.  Cinqpoint officials feel that this level of insight is a viable way to proactively avoid a potential tragedy by helping drivers be accountable and inducing a positive change in driver behavior.

Cinqpoint, LLC is currently engaging insurance carriers to join its Preferred Carrier Network, in an active enrollment period, to create incentives for the responsible use of mobile technology while driving through premium discounts and ongoing lower premiums. Text-STAR users are encouraged to contact their insurance carrier directly and ask if they're taking part in the text-STAR Road Safety System allowing for potential discounts with a good text-STAR Score.

The text-STAR mobile app is available for Android users on Google Play.
