PARKSTON, S.D. (AP) - The winningest coach in South Dakota girls' basketball history is calling it a career.
Sixty-one-year-old Rob Van Laecken has coached for 37 seasons at Parkston High School. He's retiring from both teaching and coaching at the end of the school year to spend more time with family, and more time hunting and fishing.
Van Laecken's teams have won 593 games and made it to 10 state tournaments. He has coached 17 all-state players and has had 13 athletes top the 1,000-point mark. He has had only three seasons with a losing record.
