Sioux Falls, SD—The United States Hockey League (USHL) today announced their midseason USHL All-Star Teams for the Eastern and Western Conference presented by CCM. The selections were determined by voting of the USHL coaches and general managers. The Stampede are represented by forward C.J. Franklin who was named to the second team. A total of 24 players were selected among the USHL All-Star First and Second Teams with each team consisting of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender. Eleven of the 16 USHL Member Clubs have at least one player selected to the teams.
Franklin is currently the Stampede's leading scorer having tallied 41 points (16g, 25a) in 41 games this season. Eighteen (6g, 12a) of his 41 points have come on the power play this year. The alternate captain has three game-winning goals on the season and his plus-12 on-ice rating is second best on the team. The Forest Lake, MN native is in his second season with the Stampede after posting 60 points (32g. 28a) in 62 games in 2012-13.
Earlier this year, Franklin served as an alternate captain for Team USA at the World Junior A Challenge in Canada where he helped lead the U.S. to a gold medal. He has already committed to play collegiate hockey at Minnesota State-Mankato next season.
The USHL All-Star Game and USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game were not part of the schedule for the 2013-14 season. The Top Prospects Game looks to make a return for the 2014-15 season.
Franklin and the Stampede return to action tomorrow (Friday) when they travel to Sioux City to face the Musketeers at 7:05 PM. Sioux Falls will then host Fargo on Saturday at 7:05 PM at the Arena. It is also the 7th annual Sioux Nation Pet Clinic Wiener Dog Races during the first and second intermissions.
