Austin Dillon is one of the up and coming stars of NASCAR. He was last season's Nationwide Series champion. He's bringing back the number three of the legendary Dale Earnhardt for Richard Childress Racing.
For much of the season, the major sponsor of that car will be American Ethanol. Sioux Falls based POET industries played a major role in launching the American Ethanol brand, and getting this deal done.
"He's a great young driver, but even more so, he's a great person. He's the grandson of Richard Childress who's an icon in the sport, and he's driving the number three that Childress originally drove, then Dale Earnhardt drove, and the fans have been looking forward to that." says POET vice president Greg Breukelman.
Starting at the race in Phoenix, you'll notice Dillon's car with a lot of green.
"It's great exposure, NASCAR is one of the most popular spectator sports, second only to the NFL. NASCAR fans are very loyal." says Breukelman.
Going into NASCAR isn't something new for American Ethanol, they've been heavily involved in the sport since 2011.
"It's not just our name on the side of the car, our fuel is in all the cars in all of the races." says Breukelman.
