UPDATE: Phillips Ave. back open after water main break downtown

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: A broken fire hydrant line caused this morning's water main break.  The hydrant has been taken offline. City crews hope to have the street cleaned up by early afternoon. The cost of the damage and financial responsibility is being assessed by the city.

Phillips Avenue is closed this morning for a water main break.

A steady stream of water is running through downtown Sioux Falls -- between 11th and 12th streets on Phillips Avenue.

Crews arrived on scene to begin repairs around 8 a.m.  and now have the busy street back open for businesses and shoppers.
